British DJ legend John Peel has passed away. You have no idea how indescribably sad this makes me. I know the name probably doesn't mean much to most of you, but John Peel was the soul of british radio. Peel was responsible for breaking artists like The Clash and David Bowie, he brought people like The Pixies and My Bloody Valentine to the forefront in England in the early 90s, he pushed people like The Jesus & Mary Chain and Mogwai into the limelight. NME gave him the Godlike Genius Award even. Peel was the man who helped shape the face of music over the last 40 years... he will be very much missed.

I have an interview with a recruiter in San Francisco today. Not only is it the first time I've ever talked to a recruiter, it's the first time I've gone to SF by myself. I'm taking BART in, since it's just a lot easier than trying to find parking, and then paying for parking *shudder*.

But I'm still nervous. SF does that to me. While many people love the city, I'm one of the strange ones that doesn't like them at all. I mean, I don't mind San Jose, since it's more of a sprawl with lots of greenery built in, but SF is a Big City, with skyscrapers and the like, and being that cut off from the sky and surrounded by pavement with very few trees, it just feels wrong.

Wish me luck. I'll let every one know how it goes.

So this woodpecker has taken up residence outside my window. It's odd, because this is the first time in 18 years or so something like this has happened, but it's kinda fascinating at the same time. It goes to show how distracted I can get when I spent a good half hour just watching it this morning. But it was still kinda neat. My own private Discovery channel show.

Oh... we could use a site redesign *coughgregcough*... And if I had Photoshop working, I'd give it a shot, but since no graphics can I design, due to lack of programs, alas I'll resort to subtle hints.

You know, I understand that I should try and not be depressed, but that does very little to combat the depression itself.

Tonight Cliff and I were talking, and he mentioned The Touched in an off-hand remark. "What the fuck is that?" I demanded. Oh, that's just a group blog that Greg, Liz, Dom, Dave, et al. use, you want in? "No, it looks like ass, and I don't want to be associated with it," I replied pointedly. Too bad, he says, I already sent you an invite. Tragically, the invite made it through my rigorous spam filtration system, so here I am.

I guess I don't really know what I'll do with this space. I suppose I'll probably just use it to talk about how great I am. Or to talk about how Greg needs to beg some users for servers that we can use for Real Life Radio. Or to remind Greg about that layout he promised me. Or to exchange venemous barbs with Cliff & Dom in yet another medium.

Also, I don't know why my picture isn't showing. I uploaded one. Cliff probably broke it.
